Welcome to PLYMOUTH BACKPACKERS HOTEL
Plymouth, Britains Ocean City, is a beautiful city on Britains South Coast. The gateway to the riviera, it is appealing to all kinds of people and backgrounds especially those looking for a good time attracting young travellers with its amazing night life and diversity of cultures
Plymouth Backpackers Hotel is a small family run business located opposite The Palace Theatre, opened in 1898 and built in the Flemish Renaissance style. Stars that appeared on stage there included Lillie Langtry, Harry Houdini (who challenged some local carpenters to make a box from which he wouldn’t be able to escape) and Charlie Chaplin. Laurel and Hardy were booked to play there but Oliver Hardy was taken ill which prevented their attendance. We are just a ten minute walk from the centre of Plymouth, main bus/coach station, Brittany Ferry Port that provide cross Channel Ferries to France and Spain, and the Cremyll Ferry that takes foot passengers to Cornwall. Apart from only a fifteen minute walk from the train station we are on the main bus route to any location within Plymouth and the surrounding areas. The hotel is a popular stop over point for Ramblers/Walkers on the South West Coast Path, it’s closest point to us a mere two miles away.
With supermarkets just a five minute walk from our location as well as a local large Wetherspoon pub that does great affordable food, along with other pubs and various eateries. Plymouth Hoe which has one of the best views in Europe over Plymouth Sound is just a fifteen minute walk from us. The Titanic supposedly docked there briefly on its return voyage to Britain. Apparently it had a painting of Plymouth Sound on board too! However, we weren’t there so cannot confirm any of this I’m afraid. There is also the Barbican which is just down the road from Plymouth Hoe and is a popular tourist spot in a beautiful location, lovely places to shop, eat and drink, along with a great night life. The National Marine Aquarium is also in that vicinity.
